This represents SixGen's first purchase with the support of its private equity owner Washington Harbour Partners.

SixGen has acquired a fellow provider of cybersecurity products and services across multiple customer sets to represent the former's first transaction with the backing of its current private equity owner.

By purchasing Secure Enterprise Engineering, SixGen is looking to further build out its library of intellectual property in various aspects of cyber such as software infrastructure and data management. Terms of the transaction announced Tuesday were not disclosed.

Secure-EE opened for business in 2005 and touts its flagship Distant Rook offering as designed to help enterprises automate their threat hunting functions.

The company built out Distant Rook under Small Business Innovation Research contracts with the Air Force, including a third-phase pact awarded in 2022 at a $15 million ceiling over three years. Substantially all of Secure-EE's prime contract work is with the Air Force, according to GovTribe data.

For SixGen, this move follows its sale in November 2023 to the private equity firm Washington Harbour Partners and hire in April of Jack Wilmer as chief executive. He is a former deputy chief information officer for cybersecurity and chief information security officer at the Defense Department.

Washington Harbour was advised by Morrison & Foerster on legal matters and PwC on financial. Davis Agnor Rapaport Skalny acted as legal adviser to Secure-EE, which also worked with Evergreen Advisors on the transaction.
