The global government services company's new CFO helped two of his prior employers go through transformations and subsequent sales.

Amentum has hired a new chief financial officer in Travis Johnson, a 14-year government market veteran and former chief accounting officer at several other federal contractors.

He succeeds the now-retired Charlie Mathis, the company said Monday. Mathis had been in the CFO role for an approximate two-year period that included the integration of PAE into Amentum after that acquisition closed in February 2022.

Johnson most recently worked as chief accounting officer for two years at CACI International and was involved in a handful of that company's acquisitions focused on data tools for analysts, space and secured communications.

Prior to CACI, Johnson worked in the chief accounting officer roles at FLIR Systems and KeyW Corp. Those stints included large-scale transformation efforts that culminated in FLIR's sale to Teledyne in 2021 and KeyW's sale to Jacobs in 2019.

He also held finance leadership roles at Leidos and started his career in public accounting at the global professional services firm RSM.
