Army chooses 12 for $975M training services recompete

The Army has awarded 12 companies positions on a five-year, $975 million contract vehicle for training and technical support services.

The service branch received 18 proposals in total for this second iteration of the Mission Training Complex Capabilities Support program, according to the Pentagon's Wednesday contracts digest.

Awardees will compete for task orders across work areas that also include communications, operations and logistics in addition to the main focus area of training.

MTCCS II had both an unrestricted and small business track with six awards for each. This represents an expansion from the current iteration awarded in 2017 to seven companies.

Unrestricted winners for the recompete are as follows:

• Booz Allen Hamilton
• Client Solution Architects (incumbent)
• General Dynamics' IT services unit (incumbent)
• Northrop Grumman (incumbent)
• Phoenix Logistics
• Valiant Integrated Services (incumbent)

Small business winners are as follows:

• Applied Training Solutions (incumbent)
• Core Government Services Corp.
• Evocati Solutions joint venture
• Liberty Business Solutions
• Nemean Trideum joint venture
• Veterans First

Valiant inherited its place on the contract in 2018 through the acquisition of Cubic Corp.'s defense services business, while Client Solutions Architects joined the program in 2021 via its purchase of Capstone Corp.

Two other incumbents in Trideum and Yorktown Systems Group are not on the list of MTCCS II awardees, while all other companies that got selected are newcomers.

After adjusting for those transactions, Valiant is the largest recipient of task order spend to-date at approximately $317.4 million. Deltek data indicates GDIT is next at $203.7 million, followed by Northrop at $150.7 million and CSA at $87.3 million.
