Former DoD acquisition chief Kendall joins Leidos board

The military's former chief weapons buyer Frank Kendall joins Leidos' board of directors and becomes the panel's 13th member.
Former Pentagon chief weapons buyer Frank Kendall has joined the board of directors at Leidos in an appointment that has taken effect immediately.
Kendall becomes the 13th member of the Reston, Va.-based contractor's board. He took up an executive-in-residence role earlier this month at advisory firm Renaissance Strategic Advisors, where he previously worked between 2008 and 2010.
His appointment to Leidos comes five months after he retired from the Defense Department as undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics. Kendall holds the distinction of being the longest-serving AT&L undersecretary and held that role for five years starting in May 2012.
He led DoD's various Better Buying Power initiatives to emphasize affordability and performance of programs amid declining defense budgets and strengthen the military's acquisition workforce, among other areas.
Kendall was principal deputy AT&L undersecretary from March 2010 to May 2012, when he received Senate confirmation for the undersecretary role on a permanent basis.
