Herraiz to manage stimulus package funding at Motorola

Domingo Herraiz, a former Justice Department funding and policy expert, has been appointed to manage Motorola Inc.’s government and enterprise funding programs.

The appointment is aimed at assisting Motorola customers and partners seeking funds from the U.S. stimulus package formally known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), company officials said.

“A major source of funding for many of our government and enterprise customers is federal funding to governments and federal private market initiatives aimed at expanding the economy,” Rick Neal, Motorola’s vice president of strategy and business development for government and commercial markets in the Americas, said in a statement today.

Herraiz has more than 23 years of government and public safety experience. Most recently, he served as the director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), leading the Justice Department's largest funding and policy unit for state, local and tribal criminal justice issues.

Herraiz previously was BJA's deputy director and before that he was the director of Criminal Justice Services for the state of Ohio.

As part of its funding awareness effort, Motorola has launched business.motorola.com/publicsafety/recoveryact, an ARRA Web site to provide customers and channel partners with information about available grants and other funding resources.

Motorola, of Schaumburg, Ill., ranks No. 61 on Washington Technology’s 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
