Accenture Federal touts $81M Social Security automation award
The Social Security Administration is looking to further enhance how it processes approximately 250 million benefit forms per year for retirees and survivors.
Accenture's U.S. federal subsidiary is moving ahead on its five-year, $81 million contract with the Social Security Administration to introduce new intelligence automation services into SSA's back-office functions.
SSA is looking to further advance an enterprise hyper-automation platform it adopted with the goal of enhancing how the agency processes documents for retiree and survivors’ benefits.
The agency is responsible for processing approximately 250 million benefit forms per year and has tasked Accenture Federal Services to provide a roadmap for taking that hyperscience functionality into a cloud environment, AFS said Thursday.
“Accenture Federal Services looks forward to building on our fourteen years of past performance with the Social Security Administration to help the agency realize real business value from the Hyperscience hyperautomation platform" Laura Coon, managing director at AFS and leader of its SSA client account, said in a release Thursday.
Hyperscience refers to a technology company whose cloud-based, input-to-outcome platform is designed to automate document-based workflows and capture both the physical and digital forms of data.
The platform SSA uses leans on broad learning and computer vision techniques to identify data out of its electronic portfolio, extract text and create transcriptions in order to speed up processing.
“As the agency advances in its multi-year modernization plan to improve its ability to respond to changing retiree and survivors’ benefits needs at a manageable cost, our team will serve as a trusted partner every step of the way," Coon added.
SSA finalized its award of the sole-source contract in March, according to Federal Procurement Data System records.
