The program focuses on how humans work with weapons systems and is a consolidation of three predecessor contracts.

The Air Force has awarded six companies on a 10-year, $988 million contract vehicle for professional services to aid in the service branch's human performance optimization efforts.

Bering Straits Information Technology, Laredo Technical Services, LMR Technical Group, Potomac Healthcare Solutions, Reef Systems and T3I will compete for task orders across areas such as educating and training, management support, and engineering and technical services.

A total of 11 companies bid for a place on the vehicle that focuses on how humans work with weapons systems, the Pentagon said in its Monday awards digest.

The contract goes by the acronym of HPO MA-IDIQ -- Human Performance Optimization Multiple Award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract. Only small businesses could bid for a place on it.

Solicitation documents describe the new vehicle as a consolidation of three contracts held by incumbents Bering Global Solutions, LMR Technical Group and Reef Systems. They will continue onto the new iteration.
