16 network providers win seats on $900M satellite services contract

Space Force is using this procurement to acquire connectivity and other capabilities that are fully-managed by the commercial network providers.
A total of 16 companies have won positions on a potential 10-year, $900 million contract vehicle for satellite-based services to Space Force, other U.S. government agencies and their international coalition partners.
The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency ran this procurement on behalf of Space Force and received 25 proposals in response to the solicitation, DISA said Friday.
Space Force is using the Proliferated Low Earth Orbit Satellite-Based Services contract, also known as PLEO SBS, to acquire such capabilities that are fully-managed by predominantly commercial network providers for use in all military domains.

- Inmarsat's U.S. government subsidiary (acquired by Viasat)

- RiteNet
- Satcom Direct Government
- SpaceX
- Trace Systems
- UltiSat
PLEO SBS' overall duration of performance consists of an initial five-year base period followed by an option period of five years.
This contract a brand new requirement with no incumbent.
