Markon buys IT consulting firm
This represents Markon's second purchase with the support of Sterling Investment Partners, which carved out the business in the summer of 2023.
Markon has acquired JY Systems as part of a push to incorporate more software, systems and cyber engineering capabilities that aid in government cybersecurity and signals intelligence programs.
JY Systems opened for business in 2015 as an IT and consulting services firm that works on cloud computing, network architecture and cybersecurity efforts for defense and intelligence agencies. Terms of the transaction announced Friday were not disclosed.
For Markon, this represents its second purchase with the backing of private equity firm Sterling Investment Partners following the carve-out from former parent Anser Advisory in the summer of 2023.
Markon’s first acquisition as a Sterling portfolio company took place over the summer and involved professional services company ASEC, a move that also centered around defense and intelligence work.
Cohn Reznick provided financial advisory services to Markon. Morrison & Foerster, Dechert and Seyfarth Shaw worked as Markon’s legal advisers.
KPMG Corporate Finance acted as financial adviser to JY Systems, whose legal counsel was Miles and Stockbridge.
