Maxar finds buyer for radar, sensor tech group
The space technology company makes a portfolio reshaping move close to one year after its restructuring.
Maxar Technologies has been on a path of change since it was acquired by the private equity firm Advent International in the spring of 2022.
The space technology company then divided up into two separately-managed businesses in the late summer of 2023, with one focused on imagery insights and the other on spacecraft and other hardware.
Now Maxar has undertaken a portfolio reshaping move through the sale of its radar and sensor technology group to Arka Group, a developer of remote sensing and communication products.
Terms of the transaction announced Friday were not disclosed, but Arka said the so-called RST group will become part of its advanced communications and mission applications unit.
Arka is looking to bolster the abilities of its synthetic aperture radar, moving target indication and geospatial intelligence offerings by adding the RST business.
U.S. and allied government operators use Arka’s products for mission sets such as trusted data transport, information processing and mission management.
