Alteryx unveils new public sector division

The data science and analytics software company also brings in a familiar government market name to oversee the partnerships key for growth.
Alteryx, a developer of software for data science and analytics functions, has stood up a new business unit that will focus on expansion efforts across the entire public sector vertical including federal.
The Alteryx Public Sector division will be led by a familiar face to the government market in Steve Harris, a former leader of that line of business for Dell Technologies. He will lead the development of go-to-market strategies and partnerships with both systems integrators and IT product resellers, Alteryx said Tuesday.
Harris joins Alteryx from Ellucian, a higher education technology provider where he was chief revenue officer.
Alteryx Public Sector touts its user base as including government agencies at the federal, state, local and tribal jurisdiction levels.
Educational institutions represent another category for the Alteryx team that is looking to accelerate the adoption of its product line.
