HII's board of directors has elected a new member in Craig Faller, a retired Navy admiral who concluded his 38-year military career as commander of Southern Command.

Faller's appointment took effect on Tuesday for a one-year term, the company said Thursday. He will be a member of the board's audit and finance committees.

As head of the Southern Command, Faller was responsible for building U.S. military partners with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean Sea. His tenure there involved U.S. responses to the political and economic crisis in Venezuela, the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 Haiti earthquake.

Faller retired from the Navy in 2021 after a career that also included roles such as senior military assistant to the defense secretary, chief of legislative affairs for the Navy and director of operations for Central Command.
