General Dynamics' mission systems unit promotes new ground systems leader
GD's business that focuses more on IT products elevates a familiar name to the position.
General Dynamics' Mission Systems business unit has appointed a new vice president and general manager for its ground systems line in Laura Hooks, who formerly was deputy GM.
She succeeds William "Bill" Patterson, who will retire from General Dynamics in June after 19 years at the company.
GDMS said Tuesday that Hooks will oversee a portfolio that includes radio and GPS products, network integration solutions, command-and-control systems, and training and simulation capabilities.
Hooks' career at the GDMS business includes roles such as vice president of strategic systems, which saw her responsible for hypersonic and strategic deterrence programs with the Navy and Air Force.
She also was an engineer at GD Electric Boat -- the defense company's submarine business.
