ComSovereign acquires edge computing software firm

Find opportunities — and win them.

ComSovereign's latest acquisition to build its 5G technology portfolio focuses on software to help create cloud computing at the edge.

One month on from an acquisition, ComSovereign has unveiled another in its effort to build a complete portfolio of wireless broadband technology focused on supporting 5G networks.

ComSovereign’s latest deal announced Tuesday will see it pay $13.1 million in stock for Saguna Network, an Israel-headquartered developer of software to turn communications into cloud computing infrastructures.

The idea is to offer multi-access edge computing for applications and services including augmented and virtual reality, Internet of Things, edge analytics, high-definition video, connected cars and autonomous vehicles.

Saguna built its edge cloud to help applications to run closer to the user in a wireless network, which would cut the latency.

All companies expect the transaction to close within the next 15 days.

Dallas-headquartered ComSovereign’s most recent deal was announced in April and saw the company buy Innovation Digital to add more signal processing systems.
