Verizon promotes its federal leader to a new role overseeing all of the company's public sector work.

Verizon has promoted its federal business leader Jennifer Chronis to senior vice president of the telecommunications giant’s public sector business.

She will lead all of Verizon’s work with federal, state, local, education and public safety customers. Verizon said Wednesday that Chronis succeeds former public sector president Andres Irlando, who joined communications infrastructure firm Zayo earlier this year as president.

Chronis first joined Verizon last summer as head of federal after a stint at Amazon’s cloud computing segment, where she was general manager for the Defense Department business.

The 25-year market veteran will report to Sowmyanarayan Sampath, chief revenue officer for Verizon’s business segment.
