Siemens exec joins board of U.S. federal arm

Siemens Corp.’s subsidiary focused on the U.S. government market is adding an executive from the parent company to the U.S. group's board of directors.
Siemens Corp.’s subsidiary focused on the U.S. government market is adding an executive from the parent company to the former's board of directors.
The new Siemens Government Technologies board member announced Tuesday is Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO of Siemens’ digital industries software line.
Hemmelgarn joined the Germany-based conglomerate in 2001 and oversees its Xcelerator software product line designed to help companies connect information technology, operational technology and engineering technology environments.
“With the increasingly complex interdependency of software and systems trusted for vital government missions, we are excited to have Tony bring his leadership, experience and board insights to SGT,” board chairman Anne Altman said in a release.
Other board members for SGT include retired Lockheed Martin executive Bob Coutts; retired Army Lt. Gen. John Sylvester; and Axel Meier, chief financial officer for Siemens’ smart infrastructure operating company.
Siemens Government Technologies operates under a special security agreement with the U.S. government to pursue work that requires security clearances. SGT essentially acts as the lead integrator and preferred supplier of Siemens’ software for federal programs related to energy, health care, infrastructure, electric power and automation.
