Tyto Athene names IC vet exec advisory board chair

Tyto Athene, formerly the government business of Black Box, said Tuesday it has appointed three-decade intelligence community veteran Joanne Isham as chairperson of its newly-formed executive advisory board.

The board will guide Tyto Athene’s leadership team through decisions related to acquisition strategies, government relations and market capitalization opportunities.

Isham joins Herndon, Virginia-based Tyto Athene amid a busy period for the government IT systems integrator since the August 2018 spinout and sale to private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners, plus subsequent rebranding.

So far in March, Tyto Athene has made its first acquisition and hired a new chief financial officer in former MicroPact CFO Daniel Smith.

Isham’s government service career includes leadership roles such as deputy director at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, deputy director for science and technology at the CIA and director of legislative affairs at the National Reconnaissance Office.

She is also a co-founder of In-Q-Tel, the intelligence community’s venture capital arm that invests in companies with emerging technologies that could be of use to IC agencies.
