L3 adds former Apple exec Lane to board

L3 Technologies said Wednesday it has added longtime commercial technology executive Rita Lane to its board of directors.

The company’s board grows from nine to 10 members with Lane’s appointment. New York City-based L3 cited her more than two decades of technology sector experience at companies such as Apple, the pre-split Motorola and IBM.

At Apple, she oversaw the launch of the iPad tablet and manufacturing of the Mac desktop and accessories product lines.

CEO Chris Kubasik became board chairman earlier this week, almost five months after he elevated to chief executive.

He is leading L3 through its push to be a self-touted "non-traditional sixth prime" in the defense sector that includes a focus on high-end, emerging technology development and integration work.
