Belcan hires Powell as government enterprise IT CTO

Engineering and technology services company Belcan said Tuesday it has hired almost two-decade veteran Jas. Powell as chief technology officer for enterprise IT in the company’s government services segment.

Powell will be responsible for leadership of Belcan’s efforts to expand its critical infrastructure, security and innovation-related work in the federal market.

Headquartered in Cincinnati, Belcan launched its government services business in April of last year after its trio of acquisitions of Intercom Consulting & Federal Systems Corp., Kemtah Group and Schafer Corp. to further expand federal work. Belcan made the purchases in a span of nine months.

The company also added two-decade sector veteran and former L3 Technologies executive Lee Shabe to lead the segment. Shabe subsequently told Washington Technology in April of last year the company could seek to make more deals and is interested in making an acquisition to add a larger Defense Department footprint.

Prior to Belcan, Powell was director of industry engagement for global military and national governments at Riverbed Technologies. He also has worked at Lockheed Martin, where he led efforts to build a new cyber innovation and technology center for the defense contractor’s former IT division now part of Leidos.

Including Powell, Belcan has made six senior-level hires in its executive team since the government business' launch. The company announced a trio of vice president appointments in April of last year. Rodney Hite was named VP of growth and strategy, Clint Green was added as VP of technology and innovation, and Bob Kwaja was hired as VP of finance.

Belcan then added Scott Briggs as a senior vice president and Spencer Rogers as vice president of operations.
