ManTech's Varner to retire

ManTech International group president and four-decade industry veteran Bill Varner will retire from the company at the end of this year.
ManTech International group president and nearly four-decade industry veteran Bill Varner will retire from the company effective Dec. 31.
The company first disclosed Varner's pending retirement in a regulatory filing Wednesday. A ManTech spokesperson told Washington Technology the search for a successor is beginning and both external and internal candidates are being considered. Varner will act as a consultant to ManTech after his retirement, the spokesperson said.
Varner has led ManTech's mission, cyber and intelligence solutions business group as president since 2009. He joined the company after three decades at TASC, where he more recently worked as vice president of its intelligence operations unit.
A 2009 ManTech press release says Varner led a 1,000-employee organization that provided technical services to defense and intelligence agencies. TASC achieved $2 billion in annual revenue with Varner as part of the senior executive team, according to that release.
He started his career at the former ESL Inc.
