Accenture has hired former acting Federal Housing Administration commissioner Biniam Gebre as a managing director within the company's federal subsidiary.
The nearly two-decade public sector veteran will lead Accenture Federal Services' management consulting group that offers advisory services to government agencies.
Gebre oversaw the FHA's efforts to transform its risk organization, restructure its office of multifamily housing programs, redesign the asset sale program, launch a new initiative to transform public housing and change policies to help first-time homebuyers increase their access to credit.
He led FHA on an acting basis for eight months and more recently was a partner for two years at management consulting firm Oliver Wyman, where he worked with clients in the public sector and financial services arenas.
His career also includes 13 years at McKinsey & Co., where he was a leader in the firm's public sector and banking and securities practices. Gebre designed and co-cofounded the McKinsey Center for Government.
