NOAA taps 23 firms for potential $3B environmental satellite services contract

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has awarded positions on a potential five-year, $3 billion contract to 23 companies for technical and scientific services to help NOAA acquire, deploy and maintain environmental data satellites.

NOAA sought contractor support for its National Environment Satellite, Data and Information Service that works to connect users with data on events related to the climate, weather and oceans. NESDIS works to help assess the environment, forecast weather and monitor hazards.

The Professional and Technical Support Services program calls on awardees to carry out studies, analyses, reports, applied research, data collection, surveys, and program and project management.

Of the 23 PRO-TECH awards, NOAA awarded five in the full-and-open portion and 18 for the small business set-aside category. Thirteen small business awards are on a general basis with four in the woman-owned category and one with a service-disabled, veteran-owned designation.
