DRT wins Labor workers comp cloud contract

DRT Strategies and three teammates will help implement a new cloud computing environment for the Labor Department's workers compensation management system.

DRT Strategies has won a seven-year, $52 million contract to implement a cloud computing platform for the Labor Department’s future system to manage benefits for workers’ compensation programs.

Teammates for Arlington, Va.-based technology services contractor DRT will include Acuity Systems, PwC and Software AG Government Solutions.

The department aims to consolidate its existing four workers’ compensation systems into a single environment for the review, distribution and administration of benefits for workers covered by DOL’s Office of Workers Compensation Programs.

The office administers disability compensation programs that provide benefits such as wage replacement, medical treatment and vocational rehabilitation to workers or dependents that suffer work-related injury or occupational disease.

Those initiatives include the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation, Federal Employees’ Compensation, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation and Coal Mine Workers’ Compensation programs.
