GSA seeks green building advice

The General Services Administration is looking for ideas from industry to support the agency’s energy efficiency initiatives and efforts to acquire high-performance building technology.

GSA said in request for information issued March 14 it seeks to gather consulting, research, analytics and project management support services for the agency’s Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings.

The federal government owns or leases approximately 3 billion square feet of space across close to 400,000 buildings.

Vendors have also been asked to help GSA’s green building office update screening methods, plans and studies to monitor weather and climate activity, maintain a records management system and follow developments in the financial sector on climate risk disclosures.

The green building office was stood up under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 to prioritize areas such as space usage, sustainability, effects of buildings on human health and work performance, extreme weather events and supply chain management.

Responses to the RFI are due to GSA by 12 p.m. on March 24.
