Task orders slowdown under Eagle

The pace of task orders coming out of the Eagle information technology contract at the Homeland Security Department slowed in the first half of fiscal 2008, in comparison to the previous year, according to new data released by DHS.

The department awarded 16 task orders from Oct. 1, 2007 through March 10, 2008, valued at $200 million under the Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge solutions procurement vehicle.

By comparison, in fiscal 2007, DHS officials awarded 133 Eagle task orders valued at $3 billion.

Eagle debuted in two years to consolidate IT purchases at the department. In 2006, Eagle was selected for five contracts valued at a total of $19 million.

Overall, Eagle has been responsible for 154 contracts, valued at $3.3 billion. The offices with the largest number of task orders were the chief information officer with 24; Coast Guard, 20; and Federal Emergency Management Agency, 19.

Winners of fiscal 2008 Eagle contracts include Accenture, Aerient LLC; Computer Sciences Corp.; Electronic Data Systems Corp.; General Dynamics Corp.; IBM Corp.; Lockheed Martin Corp.; and Unisys Corp.
