Four to vie for Georgia outsourcing work

The Georgia Technology Authority has prequalified four contractors to compete for its statewide infrastructure and managed network services contracts scheduled for award later this year.

For the first contract, the agency approved EDS Corp., IBM Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp. to bid on consolidation and outsourcing of information technology infrastructure services.

For the managed network services contract, the company cleared EDS and Northrop Grumman to compete as well as AT&T Inc.

The state's technology office said it received 31 responses to a request for qualified contractors issued in late January. The RFQC was part of a contracting strategy designed to ensure a manageable bidding process by prequalifying service providers interested in bidding on the request for proposals for the Georgia Infrastructure Transformation project.

The five-to-seven year contracts are expected to total between $1.2 billion and $1.4 billion, the technology office said.

The technology office plans to issue RFPs this month and award the contracts in October. Transition to the new service providers is scheduled to begin in November.
