NIC Inc. will continue delivering e-government portal services to Indiana through a four-year contract worth $18 million.

Under the contract, Indiana Interactive will develop and maintain the state's official e-government portal. Indiana Interactive, a subsidiary of NIC, signed its original contract with Indiana in 1995. The state re-bid the contract in February.

The new contract is funded through a mix of recurring, fixed-monthly fees for basic services, as well as transaction and project-based pricing for variable services, or those beyond basic services specified in the contract. They include, for example, marketing as well as some types of e-government application development and hosting.

The purchase of variable services could increase the value of the contract to as much as $44 million, the company said.

NIC of Olathe, Kan., supplies e-government solutions to 2,200 state and local agencies and has 325 employees.
