Miami Beach taps Tyler for financial software

Tyler Technologies Inc. has won a $1.7 million contract from Miami Beach, Fla., to provide a full suite of integrated financial software, the company said.

The Dallas company will provide software, professional services and support necessary to implement integrated financial software to manage the city's financial, payroll, human resources and citizen services applications. The company also will provide related Internet extensions designed to enhance the city's ability to interact with job applicants.

The software, which replaces an outdated system in use since the 1980s, is expected to cultivate business relationships with the public as well as streamline internal processes, city officials said. Miami Beach has a population of about 100,000.

The contract win extends the company's Florida client base, which includes the cities of Fort Myers and Pensacola, company officials said.

Among Tyler's other clients are more than 6,000 local governments throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom.

Tyler, a provider of information management solutions and services to local government, has 1,200 employees and annual sales of $145.5 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
