The General Accounting Office asked Congress to amend the Government Performance and Results Act to require that agencies better use performance measures.
The General Accounting Office asked Congress to amend the Government Performance and Results Act to require that agencies better use performance measures.
GAO recommended that Congress require agencies to update their strategic plans every four years and also 12 to 18 months after a new administration begins.
GAO also suggested that OMB:
*Develop a governmentwide performance plan
*Better integrate GPRA and OMB's Performance Assessment Rating Tool
*Improve GPRA guidance to agencies
*Ensure agencies provide training on performance measurement.
