GSA reorganizes e-gov offices
The agency has consolidated its e-government offices into the Office of Citizen Services and Communications.
The General Services Administration has consolidated its e-government offices into a single organization, the agency announced July 23. The new office will be called the Office of Citizen Services and Communications.
Consolidated into this office will be the GSA's Office of Communications, Federal Consumer Information Center, Office of Intergovernmental Solutions, Office of Information Technology as well as the Office of FirstGov operations from the Office of Governmentwide Policy.
"The new Office of Citizen Services and Communications opens the way for the public to interact with government by creating a single front door to the services and information they require in the medium they prefer," said GSA Administrator Stephen Perry.
The agency is doing this consolidation in order to become more closely aligned with President Bush's management agenda to make government more citizen-centered, according to the announcement.
The change took effect July 1, according to Ed Larkin, GSA director of public affairs.
