Inside DHS: Procurement, IT and industry insights
Our next Power Breakfast features key Homeland Security Department officials and executives at their largest contractors discussing DHS' initiatives and industry's role in them.
We are taking a deep dive into the Department of Homeland Security on Friday during our next Washington Technology Power Breakfast.
The Oct. 18 event will feature DHS officials talking about procurement, acquisition and IT initiatives. A deep dive into spending patterns at DHS is also on the agenda. A panel of industry executives will share their insights on what DHS is like as a customer.
The event is at the Carahsoft Conference Center in Reston, Virginia and starts at 7:45 a.m. with registration and breakfast. The program begins at 8:30 a.m.

We will kick things off with a fireside chat featuring Jackie Rubino, executive director of strategic programs with the DHS chief procurement officer; and Darlene Bullock, executive director of DHS' Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
That conversation will be about all things procurement including new initiatives, what strategic sourcing means at DHS and the opportunity set for small businesses.
Then our own Molly Broemmelsiek, GovExec vice president of data sales, will go through DHS by the numbers. She will cover spending patterns at the department, major contracts and contracts as they map to to DHS priorities.
We’ll have another fireside chat with David Blair, deputy chief information officer at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration agency. He will talk about the changing landscape at USCIS and provide insights on technology needs and new initiatives.
Our program wraps up with a panel featuring executives from Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI International and General Dynamics IT. They are among the largest contractors to DHS.
This group will talk about the trends they are seeing at the department, how they are positioning themselves for future opportunities and the evolution of their teaming strategies.
As with all our Power Breakfasts, this is an opportunity to learn about DHS. It is also a forum to connect with competitors and partners.
See you there.
