MetTel challenges Coast Guard award that went to Verizon

MetTel has lodged a challenge to an Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions task order that went to Verizon.
Verizon won the task order from the Coast Guard to provide a variety of telecommunications services under EIS, the main government-wide acquisition contract for telecommunications and network infrastructure services.
MetTel, officially known as Manhattan Telecommunications Corp., argues that the Coast Guard violated the terms of the EIS contract when it made the award to Verizon. The value of the task order is not available.
MetTel filed the protest on Oct. 15 and the Government Accountability Office will make its ruling by Jan. 23.
GSA awarded the EIS vehicle to 10 companies in 2017 and the awardees have competed for task orders ever since.
According to GovTribe data, AT&T has been the top recipient of the spend at $2.3 billion with Verizon next at $1.1 billion. MetTel is fourth on the list with around $207 million in task orders.
Agencies can continue to place orders under EIS through July 30, 2031.
