DARPA details its reach into private investing networks
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency especially wants to hear from angel investors, family offices, venture capital firms and private equity.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s mission is to be at the leading edge of breakthrough technologies for the military, which naturally leads DARPA down the path of connecting with private investors.
DARPA is being direct in doing just that through Venture Horizons, an initiative to link those investors with the agency’s employees and portfolio of technologies.
An updated sources sought notice posted Thursday details how the agency is looking to identify what it calls “top-tier” investors that could be invited to participate in Venture Horizons.
DARPA said it wants to establish more partnerships with investors in order to further scale, productize and transition agency-funded technologies for Defense Department, commercial or dual-use markets.
The agency especially wants to hear from angel investors, family offices, venture capital firms and private equity or buyout firms that have both experience in technology commercialization and interest in working with DARPA.
Responses to the request for information are due Nov. 25.
