NASA chooses dozen for $478M Space Station support recompete

NASA has selected 12 organizations for a potential nine-year, $478 million contract vehicle covering program support and other services for the International Space Station program.

This is the second iteration of the Research, Engineering & Mission Integration Services program to fulfill the ISS' needs across hardware and software. NASA said Friday that work areas will also include payload facility integration, research mission integration and engineering sustainment.

REMIS-2's base period of performance is between Jan. 12, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2030, with an option to extend the work for two more years. Other NASA offices and federal agencies can place orders against the contract as well.

Like its predecessor, the recompete also had awards in both the full-and-open and small business reserve categories.

The current REMIS contract was awarded in 2017 to 16 organizations and expires in September 2024, while its two largest incumbents in Aegis and Leidos are poised to continue onto the next iteration. Aegis was formed in 2021 via the merger of original awardee MEI Technologies with Alpha Space.

NASA has obligated $142 million of the current contract's approximate $500 million ceiling to date, according to Deltek data. Aegis and Leidos together have received approximately 71% of that spend.

A number of bidders for REMIS-2 was not known at the time of publication.
