Veterans Affairs awards $331M cyber center task order

Maveris, a veteran-owned small business IT contractor, has won a potential $333.1 million task order to help the Veterans Affairs Department run an operations center focused on cybersecurity and network defense.
VA received three offers for the potential 13-year order that it awarded on Sept. 28, according to Federal Procurement Data System records. This is for the second iteration of VA's Cybersecurity Operations Center Next Generation contract.
Under the current iteration, Science Applications International Corp. is responsible for providing at least 145 staffers that are responsible for helping the center in its incident response function among others.
SAIC's incumbent task order contract expires on Dec. 3, according to a justification and approval notice issued in September. That document outlines the contract's role in supporting five core VA CSOC teams that work across areas such as enterprise cybersecurity, incident response and investigation, analytics, security modeling, reports, assessments and network monitoring.
VA CSOC also handles functions of threat intelligence, research-and-development, and data analytics.
SAIC won the work in August 2018 for a five-year term.
Only service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses could bid on the recompete that was awarded via the General Services Administration's Multiple Award Schedules program.
