GSA adds 8 companies to COMET IT system modernization vehicle

The General Services Administration has added eight companies to an IT modernization contract vehicle originally awarded in 2019 focused on upgrading and replacing many of that agency’s procurement and back-office systems.

Known by the acronym of COMET, the contract is a focal point of GSA’s overall digital transformation effort and specifically that of its Federal Acquisition Service. COMET stands for Chief Information Officer Modernization and Enterprise Transformation.

Information in the Federal Procurement Data System that tracks contracting activity lists these eight companies as the new awardees:

• Navitas Business Consulting
• Precise Software Solutions Inc.
• Sehmi Enterprise
• Softrams
• Trillion ERP VentureTech joint venture
• Tripoint Solutions
• Vivsoft Technologies

GSA chose its initial set of 12 awardees for COMET in 2019, eight large businesses and four with the small business designation. They are competing for various task orders to replace the systems and applications used in acquisition and procurement functions.

That original group of winners has changed somewhat since through various acquisitions such as Science Applications International Corp.’s buy of Unisys, ICF’s purchase of Incentive Technology Group, Octo’s merger with fellow awardee Sevatec, and Peraton’s absorption of what was Perspecta.

According to Deltek, $329.5 million in task orders have been awarded under COMET.
