Xpect acquires digital media intake tool provider
The NewSpring-backed Xpect also is looking to further shore up its digital transformation offerings.
Xpect Solutions, an engineering and network infrastructure services provider itself acquired by NewSpring Capital in the fall, has made its first acquisition with that backing to further extend across law enforcement agencies.
Founded by Josh Baze in 2021, GovDefender designs and develops secure digital media intake tools to help investigators work through public-submitted digital content as they solve crimes. Terms of the transaction announced Tuesday were not disclosed.
GovDefender describes its core tech service lines as covering digital transformation, systems modernization, application modernization, and enterprise IT web, mobile and application development.
Xpect also acquired GovDefender to build out its portfolio in areas such as cloud architecture, user interface and user experience, security, compliance, threat assessment and governance.
When NewSpring purchased Xpect, the private equity firm touted that move as one in a series of investments focused on specific sectors within the government market. NewSpring’s other major holdings in the government market include BCore and C Speed.
Bcore mostly concentrates on the intelligence and national security community, while C Speed manufactures radar systems.
