Millennium Space Systems hires Gingiss as chief executive
Owned by Boeing since 2018, the small satellite maker is entering the next phase of its production ramp-up and market expansion push.
Millennium Space Systems, a small satellite manufacturer owned by Boeing, has hired three-decade market veteran and former Terran Orbital executive Troy Gingiss as CEO.
The appointment takes effect immediately as Gingiss steps into the role formerly held by Jason Kim, who previously led Millennium for four years and joined Firefly Aerospace as CEO in October.
Gingiss now oversees Millennium’s push to ramp-up production and expand its presence across the national security space sector, the subsidiary said Monday.
He most recently worked as chief operating officer at Terran Orbital, which was acquired by Lockheed Martin in October. His career also includes senior roles at companies such as Virgin Orbit and Airbus OneWeb Satellites.
Gingiss started his career as a mission systems engineer and analyst at Boeing in 1992, so his hire to Millennium marks a return-of-sorts to where it all began.
Millennium employs roughly 1,000 employees who work on contracts such as FOO Fighter, Missile Track Custody, TRACERS and others it describes as next-generation and advanced.
Boeing acquired Millennium in 2018 to gain a foothold in the small satellite market, one that inherently emphasizes alternative space access and business models.
