Find opportunities — and win them.

Ventera started in 1996 and now becomes the first building block for Cadmus' technology solutions division.

Cadmus has acquired a technology consulting firm that will become a new business unit focused on creating digital environments for government agencies and large commercial enterprises.

Ventera was founded in 1996 by its chief executive Robert Acosta and today describes its core focus area as user-centered agile development. In April, Ventera won one of 37 seats on the Agriculture Department’s Stratus basic ordering agreement covering cloud integration and development support services.

Acosta will join Cadmus as part of the transaction to lead the newly-established technology solutions division, the companies said Tuesday. Ventera is essentially the first building block for the division.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Other key Ventera executives poised to join Cadmus include Praveen Nedungottil, who was appointed chief technology officer for the corporation.

Chris Ford and Jeff Smith, current executive vice presidents at Ventera, will continue to lead their respective teams within the new tech solutions division.

“In today’s consulting market, technology drives the way we manage and analyze data, allowing those who harness it most effectively to deliver superior solutions with unprecedented speed and efficiency,” Cadmus’ chief executive Ian Kline said in a release.

Ventera has recorded approximately $66.3 million in unclassified prime contract revenue over the trailing 12 months with the Agriculture and Health and Human Services departments making up for 95% of that spend, according to USASpending.gov data.

USASpending pegs Cadmus’ unclassified obligations figure at $130.9 million with its top three clients as the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Agency for International Development and Homeland Security Department.

Cadmus has made a habit out of using acquisitions as its way of creating new business units. The addition of Wheelhouse in 2022 was the first step in forming a new strategy and transformation unit, while the purchase of Nathan Associates in 2023 led to the standup of an international development division.

CI Capital Partners is the majority owner of Cadmus, having purchased the company in 2021.
