Markon separated from its former parent in the summer of 2023 to focus exclusively on federal work.

Markon, a government consulting firm backed by Sterling Investment Partners, has acquired fellow professional services company ASEC (Advanced Systems Engineering Corp.) to further extend across the defense and intelligence communities.

ASEC is a woman-owned small business that opened in 1992 as a provider of management, systems engineering, finance, cybersecurity and software development services to agencies. Terms of the transaction announced Friday were not disclosed.

This move takes place one year after Markon separated from its former parent Anser Advisory, which was acquired by Accenture through a carve-out transaction. Sterling kept the 280-employee Markon business that focuses on federal contracting, while Anser's clients are in state and local public sector.

Markon plans to complete its integration of ASEC sometime in 2025, the companies said.

Stout Risius Ross provided financial advisory services for the transaction. Morrison & Foerster and Foley & Lardner respectively offered buy-side and sell-side legal advisory support.
