IBM wins $279M USCIS application development job

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency is looking to further iterate E-Verify, the programs that check an individual's eligibility for employment and benefits.
IBM has won a potential five-year, $279 million task order to work with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agency on developing and maintaining applications for USCIS' verification information system.
That system includes E-Verify, a family of programs that employers rely on to verify an individual's eligibility to work in the U.S. and agencies use to check an individual's immigration status when applying for benefits.
USCIS awarded the so-called FALCON order on Thursday and received seven bids from holders of Multiple Award Schedules contracts, according to Federal Procurement Data System records.
The program's full name is Fast Agile Lifecycle for Continuous Verification, Operations and NextGen. It covers system support, operations, maintenance and software delivery services to aid in building new features for the VIS.
IBM will be responsible for standardizing the large-scale web applications and other IT assets that the agency accesses in an Amazon Web Services cloud environment. Big Blue is also tasked to provide teams that specialize in the DevSecOps software practice.
