Chesapeake Technology acquires communications, autonomy product provider

Chesapeake Technology International has acquired a maker of products for use in edge communications and flight autonomy programs across the defense and national security landscape.
CTI's purchase of Assymetric Technologies also is intended to further build out the buyer's portfolio of capabilities in technology transition and system interoperability. Terms of the transaction announced Thursday were not disclosed.
Assymetric opened for business in 2011 as a specialist in open source software, flight control and waveform technology offerings. The company's IronClad and Whisper systems will be folded into CTI's larger set of offerings for the military's unmanned system requirements.
"This acquisition will enhance our ability to deliver comprehensive software and purpose-built hardware products and solutions for our customers and reaffirms our strategy to invest in our business to address evolving national security needs," CTI's chief executive Jay Moorman said in a release.
CTI is backed by Bluestone Investment Partners, which acquired its majority ownership of the defense technology integrator in 2021 and subsequently supported the purchase of Rapid Imaging Technologies.
