NeuroFlow seeks wider Veterans Affairs presence through acquisition

The buyer is looking to gain more expertise in the VA's ongoing electronic health record migration effort.
NeuroFlow, a maker of technology for use in remote monitoring and behavioral health care, has acquired a provider of software that the Veterans Affairs Department uses to manage workflows for clinical teams and individuals.
Capital Solution Design is the owner of Behavioral Health Lab and BHL Touch, both of which have been in operation at the VA for at least 15 years along with more than 150 public and private health care facilities. Terms of the transaction announced Thursday were not disclosed, but the companies said CSD will become a subsidiary of Neuroflow.
By purchasing CSD, Neuroflow is looking to gain expertise in the VA's electronic health record migration from its long-standing Vista environment to one based on the Cerner EHR.
The BHL and BHL Touch software products are also interoperable with Epic Systems' EHR that is the most widely-used medical record across hospitals in the U.S.
“We are eager to accelerate the implementation of BHL and BHL Touch at new facilities within the VA and to continue with various exciting collaborations and product developments already in progress," Neuroflow chief executive Chris Molaro said in a release.
CSD touts its product lines as helping providers in measurement-based care, a practice that relies on systematic and routine assessments of a patient's perspective through self-reported progress and outcomes that include symptoms and functioning.
Those reports take place throughout the course of mental and behavioral care to inform patients and providers of treatment options and pathways to recovery.
“For over a decade BHL has helped develop and maintained the infrastructure needed to measure mental health outcomes and oversee the care for millions of veterans across the entire VA network," said Dr. Dave Oslin, director of the VISN 4 Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center. "We're looking forward to expanding the impact of BHL with NeuroFlow's team, resources, and experiences, and ultimately have a broader and deeper impact to support more veterans.”
