RGS' now-retired chief executive led the work to obtain its facility clearances.

Rancher Government Solutions, the open source software company's federal subsidiary, has brought in an acting chief executive in the wake of the current CEO's decision to retire.

RGS said Thursday that Paul Smith, former senior vice president and general manager for Red Hat's North American public sector business, will step into the CEO responsibility temporary basis.

Now-former CEO Lynne Chamberlain led RGS for three years including the work to obtain its facility clearances. The company focuses on helping federal agencies manage Kubernetes container orchestration systems at scale.

Smith spent 17 years at Red Hat and for the past few years has worked as an adviser to companies such as Software AG Government Solutions and Amida Technology Solutions.
