This is one of ManTech's first major executive team hires since its sale to the Carlyle Group.

ManTech has hired a new senior vice president for its Navy business in Mark Bortfeld, a three-decade veteran formerly of Peraton.

Bortfeld succeeds the now-retired Red Hoover, who spent the last decade at ManTech following 27 years in the Navy. Bortfeld will report to ManTech's defense sector executive vice president and general manager David Hathaway, the company said Monday.

This represents one of ManTech's first major executive team hires since the company was acquired by global investment firm Carlyle Group in the fall of 2022.

Most recently, Bortfeld worked as vice president and general manager of Navy and Marine Corps at Peraton from 2020. His areas of focus in that role included mission systems, applications, unmanned solutions and services.

Bortfeld's career in industry also includes senior executive roles at several of Peraton's heritage businesses: Perspecta, the former Hewlett-Packard and Electronic Data Systems. He is also a Navy veteran.
