Bob Fickett is transitioning to executive chairman after a six-year tenure that included an acquisition of a business unit from General Dynamics.

Communications & Power Industries has promoted its next chief executive from within the company's own ranks in Andrew Ivers, who joined CPI in 2019 and is currently president and chief operating officer.

Ivers will step into the CEO position on May 31 and succeed Bob Fickett, who has led the electronic component maker for six years and will transition to executive chairman of the board of directors.

Fickett's tenure as CEO includes CPI's acquisition in 2019 of a satellite communications antenna systems business from General Dynamics Mission Systems, which is GD's defense and space product unit. He has been with the company since 1982.

Ivers joined CPI in 2019 after 18 years as an executive at the former L3 Technologies, where his roles included president of the communications systems segment.
