A former Pentagon acquisition chief also is taking up a seat on Parsons' board of directors.

Parsons Corp. promoted one of its own executives, Matt Ofilos, to chief financial officer.

Ofilos, a nearly two-decade government market veteran, succeeds George Ball, Parsons' CFO for the past 14 years, Ball oversaw the company's initial public offering in 2019 and will work in an advisory capacity through September to support the transition.

Ball also has been elected to the board of directors alongside former Defense Department acquisition undersecretary Ellen Lord, Parsons said Monday.

Ofilos joined Parsons last year in his current finance executive vice president role after a stint as CFO of the worldwide public sector and strategic industries business at Amazon Web Services, the e-commerce giant's cloud computing subsidiary.

Prior to AWS, Oflios worked at Raytheon for 19 years and concluded his tenure there as CFO for the space command-and-control business unit within its technology services segment.

Lord served as defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment between 2017 and 2011, while her private sector career before that spanned three decades and included five years as CEO of Textron Systems.

She is also a member of the boards of directors at AAR Corp., GEOST and Voyager Space.
