Cyber firm brings in new public sector leader

Redacted appoints a new leader for its public sector business whose background includes work in cybersecurity policy and computer forensics.

Cloud and cybersecurity services firm Redacted has hired a new leader for its public sector business in Tim Kosiba, a three-decade veteran of federal agencies including the Defense Department and FBI.

Kosiba joins as CEO of the company’s Bracket F subsidiary focused on federal, state and local government markets. Redacted said Tuesday he will be responsible for forging partnerships to provide products, services and training for defending against cyber threats.

San Francisco-headquartered Redacted was founded in 2015 and is backed by investment firms Ten Eleven Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, Vy Capital and SVB Capital.

Most recently, Kosiba was a deputy commander within DOD and led the implementation of the National Security Agency’s cybersecurity policy there. Redacted describes him as having frequently represented the NSA and Cyber Command at the White House and other government-sponsored deliberations relating to cyber activities.

His career also includes roles such as technical lead for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) at NCIS HQ and as certified master forensic examiner with the FBI Laboratory’s computer analysis response team.
