Jacobs takes out Northrop for $4.6B MDA R&D, IT contract

Jacobs Engineering Group wins a potential eight-and-a-half year, $4.6 billion research-and-development and IT services contract with the Missile Defense Agency.
Jacobs Engineering Group has won a potential eight-and-a-half year, $4.6 billion contract to carry out research-and-development and IT services for the Missile Defense Agency.
This award unseats incumbent Northrop Grumman, which first won the contract in 2005. MDA has obligated approximately $1.1 billion in contract funds since the original award, according to Deltek.
MDA received two bids for the contract's new iteration.
The Integrated Research & Development for Enterprise Solutions contract covers help to manage MDA's enterprise communications and IT environment with products and services to support tests, training and operations.
Jacobs will support MDA's Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center that contains computers and software environments to handle models and simulations.
Work will take place at the center's main hub at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado.
