DHS vet Chaillan joins Qualys as federal CTO

Former DHS Chief Architect Nicolas Chaillan joins secure cloud firm Qualys as federal CTO to lead government IT initiatives.

Former Department of Homeland Security Chief Architect Nicolas Chaillan has joined secure cloud technology provider Qualys as federal CTO and will lead the company's government IT initiatives.

Chaillan will focus on strategy and solution development in his new role, Qualys said Monday. This appointment comes nearly a month after Silicon Valley-based Qualys hired Bill Solms to lead its federal division.

While at DHS, Chaillan was also a special adviser for cybersecurity in addition to the chief architect role for almost one year until January. He led the design of a new ".gov" cybersecurity architecture to help mitigate cyber threats.

During his private sector career, he has founded 12 companies and created and sold at least 180 software products to 45 Fortune 500 companies, according to Qualys.
